Visit the Shandong Provincial Art Museum
Recently, the students of Confucius Institute of Shandong Yingcai University went to the Shandong Provincial Art Museum for the African Sculpture Art Exhibition. This visit was under the guidance of Professor Xiaoxian Liu. The collection of 140 African sculptures is from the National Museum of China. These sculptures are from several ethnic artists from more than ten African countries. It is a civilization covenant that spans time and space.
The students of Confucius Institute entered the library in an orderly manner at 9am. Firstly, they went to the A1 exhibition hall on the first floor of the Shandong Provincial Art Museum. The entire exhibition hall has restored the African grasslands. Students are impressed by exaggerated original African sculptures, coveted elements of totem elements and images of ancient Africa. Professor Liu gave a lecture on the origins of African civilization, the reasons for its formation and the characteristics of African culture. He also talked about the communication between China and African countries. Professor Liu led the students to admire pieces of woodcarving from different countries and tribes in different historical periods, and patiently answering the questions from the students.
After the exhibition tour, Professor Liu gave a lecture on the Confucius drama and pointed out some problems. Everyone sat down and listened quietly to Professor Liu’s lecture about the manner from Zhou Dynasty. He demonstrated the posture of salute and taught students things about spirit of Confucianism. Professor Liu and his classmates sat on the grassland and shared their experiences and feelings after the exhibition.
The students actively expressed their feelings and opinions about this tour. Through this visit, the students of Confucius Institute felt the civilization of Africa and experienced the African culture.
